The 502nd Heavy Panzer Battalion of the German Defense Forces was the second Tiger tank fighting unit formed by Nazi Germany in May 1942 and was primarily involved in the battles on the Eastern Front in the direction of Leningrad. On August 29, 1942, the battalion's first Herschel Tiger tanks were officially launched into Leningrad, where the early battle was thwarted by mechanical failures and terrain constraints. During the subsequent reorganization of the forces in 1943, the Second Company was transferred to the 503rd Heavy Panzer battalion. In February 1944, the total number of Tiger tanks in the army reached 71 (24 actually operational). Renamed the 511th Heavy Panzer Battalion in January 1945, it was eventually equipped with King Tiger tanks and continued to fight until the Germans were defeated. The battalion was composed of commanders such as Kalius and Beltel, and during the siege of Leningrad. In operations such as the Battle of Neville, more than a thousand Soviet tanks were destroyed, making it an elite force of German armored forces.

德国国防军第502重装甲营是纳粹德国于1942年5月组建的第二个虎式坦克作战单位，主要参与东线列宁格勒方向的战役。1942年8月29日，该营首批亨舍尔型虎式坦克正式投入列宁格勒战场，初战因机械故障和地形限制受挫。1943年后续部队重组期间，第二连划归第503重装甲营。1944年2月全营虎式坦克数量达71辆（实际可作战24辆）。1945年1月更名为第511重装甲营，最终装备虎王坦克并持续作战至德国战败。该营以卡里乌斯、贝尔特尔等车长为核心，在列宁格勒围城战、涅韦尔战役等行动中累计击毁苏军坦克逾千辆，成为德军装甲部队精锐力量。
